RIP Michael Jackson

when i found out on friday, 26th june 2009 that the King of Pop had died at 5.21 am that morning, i really couldn't quite believe my ears.
i was surprised and rather taken aback.
it felt surreal that he had actually passed away. still feels surreal.

it's funny, coz no one really heard much or gave a damn about him in his years of absence and now that he has suddenly shocked the world with his death, everyone's rushing to buy his albums, everyone is cherishing his music and everyone is only saying good things about him.
no one really appreciates you the way they should until you die.

so here is a man, who has been performing and pressured into giving it all ever since the age of 5 and never had the chance to live like a normal child.
normal children worry about things like grades and sports and school.
he worried about stage performances, dance moves and records.
he was forced to live as an adult at such a young age, it's surprising to see how strong he actually was at the peak of his career.

there have been many rumours about him. none of them that we know are true for sure, but the one thing that he was most known for was his face, having gone for multiple plastic surgeries. but i believe that beneath all that was a good guy who had just too much on his plate to handle. from child molestation ( i don't believe it!), to disappointing sales of records, to skin diseases, this man really DID have many reasons to breakdown.

the originality that IS Michael Jackson is definitely something you have to respect. talent is one thing, but originality? that is MORE than talent will ever be.
the moonwalk, "jamone" and all the extra sound effects.
the ever energetic concerts so filled with emotions, i teared up re-watching those performances, not believing how someone so talented could have had so much troubles in life. that he HAD the world at his feet but had lost it all and died a shocking, unglamorous death.

it's a pity MJ didn't even manage to start on his comeback concerts scheduled for july. he would definitely have hit the world by storm then and prolly things would've been different, dying with an impact, showing the world that he is as great a performer as before and just as talented even with all the crap that was going on in his life. the talent that will ALWAYS be michael jackson.
but ironically, it may have been his comeback concerts that might have worn out a normal 50-year old man.

having lived as an adult as a young child, it is only understandable that he tries to be a child at an adult age. his beliefs and love in children is definitely something to respect.
i was watching one of his acceptance speeches where he talks about children, and in it, he says that children are innocent creatures that should be cherished because they are the way of the future, and if anybody would save the world, it would be the children as they have innocence that adults have deep in their hearts but do not show, and that children have solutions to the world that adults so kept in their greed and evil will never be able to have. and this was Michael Jackon's belief.

MJ sang songs that had so many messages for the world to interpret, and with so many different themes. songs that were sad, and songs that gave you a clue.
from a pet rat (ben), to not being racist (black or white), to helping the world (heal the world) to helping the children (we are the children), to love and friendship (you are not alone), only to name a few.

i couldn't stop watching his concerts and performances all the while being awed by his talent, by his spirit, by his emotions.
he is trully the best performer of all time.
Michael Jackson may be many things, but the one thing that he DEFINITELY is, is that he is one of a kind. There will be no one else as great as Michael Jackson.

SO WHAT IF HE HAD PLASTIC SURGERY?!
SO WHAT IF HE COVERS HIS CHILDREN WHEN HE BRINGS THEM OUT?! (i believe it was a form of protection so taht they wouldn't have to go through the sort of childhood that he did, being famous and all that)
TALENT is what he is famous for, and he has NEVER failed us one bit.
he left us with memorable songs and dancemoves that will never let us forget him, even in many many many years to come. he left us with music that the world loves and is an instrument that connects us all spirit. so even if he did die out of a sudden, his death has definitely made an impact on us all and it is this impact that has made me realize how much i'm really going to miss him.

here's to Michael Jackson, the greatest star of all time.
may he rest in peace.

you are not alone, my most favourite MJ song
